The guys that organised Hed Kandi last time in Paard van Troje organised it again on the 28th of june. I covered the event for partymania.
The lights were horrible; somebody (probably the LJ) decided to light the dancers from behind with four huge red lights, casting the dancers in a red glow, which ruins the autofocus and totally throws off white balance. It took me a lot of effort in lightroom to recover some colors from the RAW data (this proves that shooting RAW is the way to go; I couldn’t have done this with JPG).
It was hard to choose the best image of the evening, but I settled for this one because it just looks good in my opinion, the movement, the blurryness, the colors.

The same guys that organised Hed Kandi last time in Paard van Troje organised an event called “Frame” on sunday the 11th of may . I did the shoot for partymania.
Although I didn’t like the LJ (guy that does the light) –okay, he’s probably a nice guy, but the way he lit the stage was crap (in my professional opinion). Half my shots of the dancers were blown out, bin-worthy pix.
The crowds stayed away, due to the warm weather and the beach party events, unfortunately. After I shot the dancers a second time I went home, much to the surprise of one of the backstage guys “Dude, you can’t leave, the DJ came all the way from the USA!” he exclaimed.
Well, I guess I shocked him when I said that I couldn’t tell one DJ from the next, that I was only here to take pictures, haha.

Hed Kandi organised a dance event at “Paard van Troje” in the Hague.
It seemed like fun to do a shoot there so I asked the guys from partymania to arrange one for me.
It was a tremendously fun experience, met some new colleague photographers (who worked for the “competition”
) talked about our mutual hobby and I got some pointers as well.
I tweaked this pic with my ever changing photo skills, and I just love the gorgeous light.
